Weeping bottle-brush

Weeping bottle-brush or Callistemon viminalis

(non seeding hybrids are not classified as invasive).

Many of you may not know that this plant is a declared invasive specie in the Eastern Cape, see detail below.

An invasive specie we all know and many have these growing on the property or verge. The weeping bottle-brush or Callistemon viminalis. It is category 1 b in Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, category 3 in the rest of the country. It is already showing signs of invading the Baakens Valley in some areas. unfortunately is is a very pretty small tree and was planted by all, all over the show. New hybrids of this tree (which do not seed) are not classified as invasive.
